A company formed outside British Columbia that registers here must name a BC attorney to receive legal documents and notices on its behalf, unless its head office is in BC. We act as that attorney: a practicing BC lawyer, at our office in Metro Vancouver, with anything served or mailed to you scanned and emailed the same business day.

If your company was formed outside BC and its charter puts its head office outside BC, yes: the BC Business Corporations Act requires every such extraprovincial company to have one. The attorney must be an individual living in BC or a BC company.
Under the New West Partnership there is no BC registration fee and no BC annual report, but you still need a BC attorney. You'll also need a BC name reservation ($30) if you don't have one.

No. Acting as your attorney is an administrative service and does not create a solicitor-client relationship. If something served on you needs a lawyer, we'll tell you right away, and legal work is available separately under a written retainer.
